“I lift my eyes up to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip – he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watched over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you – the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
We have officially passed our halfway point as of April 4th and it absolutely blows us away to be able to tell you that we are at 53% of our monthly support budget! Our journey to 100% in 100 Days began on February 15th and ends May 24th. More than one missionary friend had told us before we started this process, “Just wait and see how God provides…” and we have found that to be completely true. When we first began meeting with potential donors we were nervous, of course. It’s hard to ask people for money! But as we continue to share our story and our vision, and as our support family continues to grow, we are encouraged and amazed. Our passion grows and enables us to share even more. We are doing the leg work. We have prepared and researched and made the appointments and created the spreadsheets, but God has done incredible work in the hearts of everyone who’s met with us.
One aspect of our support raising that we are not as focused on right now is our moving costs. From what we’ve read and people we’ve talked to, it’s more challenging to attain monthly givers so that has been our primary task. But lo and behold, the money is being provided for that as well. $8,000 of the approximately $30,000 has been raised. Without really trying. Amazing.
We also sold our camping trailer without putting it up for sale. Word of mouth and it was gone. The money from the sale of the trailer will provide our $10,000 emergency fund. Our rental house is in escrow as we speak so that we will be able to leave completely debt free.
So that pretty much sums up our most recent updates. There are lots of exciting things going on right now at El Ayudante, and we can’t wait to join them. I encourage you to visit their website and blog at www.eahonduras.org and follow them on Facebook as well.
If you would like to partner with us financially, you can do so here .
Thank you for coming along with us,
“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now…It is right for me to feel this way about all of you since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.” Phillipians 1:3-7
Shane and I have been on our support raising journey for about one month now. It really just dawned on me this past week or two what an amazing opportunity we have. We are creating a new family. This is a group of people who love us and want to participate with us in sharing the gospel in Honduras. We look forward to building relationships with those in our family and growing together in our mutual love for Jesus.
We are blown away with the support family that God has given us so far. It has been such a blessing to meet with people and share our story and our ministry vision. Our partners at this point consists of around 30 people (a nice variety of singles, couples, and families), and we are 28% funded for our monthly budget. Today is Day 27 out of 100 so it looks like we are right on track.
Continue to pray for us as we seek out partners in ministry. Pray that God would lead just the right people into our new family. We love you and are praying for you as well!
As of Monday, Shane and I have officially launched our fundraising journey. We have spent the last month or so preparing and now we are ready to go! We both know that God is going to use just the right people to provide and we can’t wait to watch it happen!
We are believing that we we will reach 100% of our monthly support in 100 days. This means that we are gathering a family of supporters who will help us reach our budget of $4,000 per month. This is the number that we have discussed and agreed upon with El Ayudante. If you’re curious to know what that money will be spent on, I’m more than happy to be transparent about our finances.
We also have a goal of a $30,000 launching fund before we can move. This start-up money will cover residency fees, language school, a vehicle, 5 one-way plane tickets, and moving costs.
Please pray for us as we begin our fundraising. Pray that we would be confident and courageous. Pray that God would soften the hearts of those that we meet with. Pray that he would assemble the perfect family of supporters. Pray that we would trust Him as our Great Provider. Pray that Our Vision would be clearly communicated with enthusiasm!
Thank you again for reading and coming alongside us,
Welcome to the first post of our new blog! This is one of the first steps in our journey to full time missions. This website is a place where all of our friends, family and supporters can come to keep up-to-date with what’s “happening” in our lives.
